How To Series: Car Stereo InstallationHow do I stop the noise in my car audio system? It happens when I start my car... Bad Grounds are usually the point at which the noise starts and will feedback into your amp through the ground shield of your RCA jacks. While this does not always hold true, it is common. This can be fixed by changing the amp's ground point and must have very clean contact. No paint, oil, etc. Any gap in wire to surface contact acts as an air gap transmitter. As a last alternative, adding external supply filtering,a ground loop isolator, or isolation transformer will stop the noise... if this test proves true; Try IT:Simply pull your RCA jack's from your amp just far enough so that the ground no longer touches and only the center prong is in, does the noise stop? If yes then you are having a ground loop oscillation. The filtering should be used as last resort. Bad Grounds will reduce performance and system life. If this still doesn't work for you, go to the More Help Forums above and tell us!:-) What is causing the noise?
