OK i got my 1200.2 avionixx amp awhile ago but just got it hooked upt to a speaker this weekend using only about half its potential as this is a smaller speaker have the gain set at about 4 volts and a 2 volt signal at max volume. my question is this i have never delt with a big amp like this how warm should it get? it seems to get warmer then my phoenix gold tantrum 500.2 did but it seems to stableize and not get much warmer say after about 10 minutes so is this probaly just the amp acting normal?

Depends in the speaker ohmic load you have. If only using 1 channel, a 4 or 2 ohm speaker... should be OK. Setting your amp gain to highest setting (4 volts or a tad higher) will cut back on amp power to sub so you don't trash it ASAP, but depending on the sub used and power handling, you may still have to be very careful with HU power to amp.

Amp gets warm??? (How warm? Too hot to touch?) Some amps naturally run a bit hotter, (RF and HiFonics are very good examples) depending on the load they are presented with (2 or 4 ohms) and power demand High or Low) on the amp. Also, less power transistors, but higher output ones will also generate more heat. More power transistors, working at lesser power diassapation, will run cooler.

Can always contact Avionixx and ask their opinion too.

ya its not running hot just warmer then any of my previous amps... i'am using just one channel but avionixx said that was ok when i asked a few months back.... but i wel re wire the speaker from 2 ohm to 8 ohm and hook it to the amp bridged maybe this well work better same power as suing just one channel but both channels being used....

ok it runs alot cooler now that the speaker is running off both channels i would say about half or less then what it was before.
